Three Jane Austen-Inspired Christmas Movies

With the winter holidays coming and going, Jane Austen still prevails! 

Here are three Jane Austen-inspired films for you to enjoy this holiday season.

1. Sense, Sensibility & Snowmen

Sense, Sensibility & Snowmen is about two Dashwood sisters, Marianne and Ella who run a party planning business. Ella, who is ambitious and free-spirited, has plans to grow and expand her sister’s business, Dashworks, but Marianne has reservations due to her sister’s inconsistency and her history of short-term commitments. To prove her sister wrong, Ella takes on a last-minute client, a large corporate toy company, Ferris Toys, to plan their Christmas party. The CEO of Ferris Toys, Edward Ferris, is a no-nonsense numbers guy who has tunnel vision for logic based on the numbers he sees. Edward and Ella’s personalities clash trying to scramble to get this last-minute Christmas party off to success.

2. Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe

Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe starts with Darcy Fitzwilliam, a successful partner in an investment firm, taking time away from work to return home for the holidays. Upon arriving home, she jumps right in to help her mother with the Pemberley League Annual Auction. With a tight schedule and everything at the last minute, Darcy not only has to juggle to get the auction together. She also juggles an ex-boyfriend, an old high school rival, and a business partner trying to give her the boot. And to add the cherry on top, her father wants her to come back into the family business. Darcy is faced with many challenges which lead to her having to decide what she wants and who she wants.

3. Christmas at Pemberley Manor

The story starts with Elizabeth Bennet, a planner in New York trying to make her way up the ladder at Caroline Bingley’s company. Her mission is to prove herself to Caroline, to take on a holiday festival in a small town. The Mayor and long-time friend, George is desperate to make a good impression on his town and knows Elizabeth is the only one up for the challenge. Upon first arriving, Elizabeth bumps into a frazzled Travis. When questioning the jumpy man, she concludes that his boss, Mr. Darcy, is the harsh type and decides to take it upon herself to confront him. Later on, George and Elizabeth find out that the location where the festival was scheduled to be held is no longer able to cater to the public.

This leads them to stumble upon Pemberley Manor, owned by Mr. Darcy, and try to convince him to let them use the property for the town holiday festival. Darcy declines due to his intentions of selling the manor, but Elizabeth’s persistent and crafty thinking finds a way to be able to use the manor that Mr. Darcy would not be able to refuse. The two are now stuck together to get this holiday festival off to a success…
